Mas des Caprices, Languedoc
The wines from Mas Des Caprices are amazingly pure, elegant and authentic examples of the appellations, winemaking is organic (biodynamic certification in application), with minimum intervention and low or no sulphur. The wines could be called “natural” though their clear and precise flavours are classic.
Both born into wine-making families in Alsace, husband and wife Pierre and Mireille Mann chose to go their own way and founded a restaurant in the beautiful Alsace town of Colmar. 10 years on, in 2003, they felt the call of the vineyard again and decided to return to their heritage and make their own wines in Fitou, Languedoc, South of France. It’s this “return to source” after which their Fitou “Retour aux Sources” is named.
Fitou was the first Appellation of the Languedoc and is the home of the Carignan grape variety, all Fitou wines must contain at least 40%. The white wines from the region are not called Fitou but are classed as “Corbieres”.
