This property has been in the family for over 200 years. The domain is currently run by Francesco Scala. They only use native varieties of Calabria which include Gaglioppo, Magliocco, Greco, Nerello, and Mantonico. Scala has been Certified Organic since 2016. This 100% Greco comes from vineyards located in Cirò (Crotone district), 100 to 150 meters above sea level. Cirò, located in the ball of the foot of the Italian boot, and stretches from the hillside-perched medieval village of Cirò down to the Ionian Sea where the Cirò Marina sits in the province of Crotone. The vines are cultivated in espalier on the hinterland plains and hills, on argillaceous and sandy soil.
